Julie and Julia
(which is one and the same)

Julia's January Bunco

Julia greeting us at the door .... in her pearls
and 50's style hat.

and of course her great smile and a beverage.

As I entered her lovely home I was greeted by other women in pearls and 50's styled hats. This of course mad me loudly exclaim "Heellllloooooo"

in my best imitation of Julia Child
and I was greeted back with the same exclamations.

Well as you may have guessed... we all received a strand of pearls and could choose from an array of bygone era hats (about 15 or so) that had belonged to Julia's grandmother.

Shelley and Diana

Vivian... cheers (I think Vivian loved her hat so much she
may have taken it home)

Pretty Peggy

The significance of the name tags was to symbolize 3, for the
number of women who wrote
"Mastering the Art of French Cooking"
and the French words for French Cooking School.

Here is Julia's sister Sally, who was visiting for Bunco and helped Julia with the delicious spread.

Sally also owns a gorgeous place in Palm Springs that we have been lucky enough to
stay at.
Thanks Sally.

We enjoyed quite the spread.  Delicious chicken salad
sandwiches on croissants with all the accompaniments, assorted beautiful fruit and a dip with lornas...what was that
delicious dip Julia?

We also enjoyed assorted beverages to everyone's liking

and of course, one of the most important items....dessert!!!!

The pearl ritual with Charissa

and the finished product, she did need
to change out the ball cap.

Perfect for Patty...
This hat
fit on no one's head but Patty, and
I thought I had a small head.  But it was perfect for Patty

Patty .... you are toooo cute!

Julia bestowing pearls on Tammie

Princess Katina, in the hat saved especially for her.

A view of Shelleys from behind...we all agreed she was dressed the part too

Cynthia in her hat and pearls

And the last straggler....Lisa... joining right in.

Tammie and Julia

The whole gang in our hat and pearl glory.

Thanks Julia for an outstandingly fun time.

You are the only "Julia"

Bon Appetit!

February Bunco

Be my Valentine

February Bunco will be hosted by Shelley on February 11th.
All I want to know is ... Shelley will you have chocolate??

Katina's Fall Fling

Thank you Katina

In November we celebrated Katina's Fall Fling.  Katina went all out for us, not only did her house look maaavellous, and full of Fall decor...but even puppies had Fall ribbons in their hair
(or on their ears)

Katina cooked for us and I will be posting her delicious recipe.

Here is Patty tossing the most delicious salad and Debbie (not sure what Debbie is doing ;)

Corn bread

Patty is a winner

Whose idea was it to give Peggy a choice?

Vivian...can I borrow that?

Big plans, little plans or just a bit of gossip?

Shelley, another winner

Diana, a winner.  That pumpkin made an appearance on our
Thanksgiving table, and was darling.

Mission Inn it Ain't

That’s right, it’s much, much better

Peggy’s Christmas Bunco

I see that I have been a slacker keeping current with our Bunco blog. Perhaps if I had a following….maybe some readers…maybe one reader, I would be motivated. I am but a simple person and it takes no more than one (that’s right one) pat on the back to encourage me to keep this blog current.
But alas….nothing.

Now that I am over not being appreciated I shall continue with the Christmas Bunco post.

Christmas Past

In the past, as you all remember, we would meet at the Mission Inn for $10.00 Lemon Drops and then dine for a mere $75.00 dinner on the patio…enjoying bad service and being required to open our own bottles of wine (under the table) so as not to add a $60.00 corkage fee to our meal.
We were forced to refer to ourselves as retired strippers or
as a red hat club.
Oh those were the days.
NOT!!

Christmas Present

We have gotton smarter in our old age….some of us older than others …. (I’m just saying).
Bunco dinner is now a group project.
Peggy, our hostess, sets a table fit for 12 (or 13) Queens of royal lineage. She gives us glitz, sparkle, bling and elegance.
Let me refresh your memories.

Are you remembering how gorgeous it was?

and we haven't even gotten to the food yet.

Our table was set for 13 pajama clad ladies.

Nice dishes Peggy...

I think this may have been my placesetting.
I think it was nicer and more special then everyone elses.

We ate (and ate, and ate)

There are a few recipes from this night.  Cynthia's
delicious garlic bread recipe will follow this post.

and we need Patty's pasta fusuli soup recipe.

Every one of our ladies prepared and brought an Italian dish...creating

quite the Italian feast.

and we drank

and were merry...after all it was Christmas bunco

Bartender extrodinaire

Kitchen helpers?

Are we having fun yet?

Even Rosie got into the act...wearing some bling.  This was only one picture
from her photo shoot.

Okay ladies,  which ever recipe is yours email it to me so I can post the recipe.
This was soooooo yummy

Debbie... you are too funny.

Peggy's house was gorgeous

Oh Christmas tree

Beautiful decorations

Christmas Future

Until next Christmas bunco...thank you Peggy.
It was absolutely devine and we
appreciate all of the hard work, effort and love
you put into it for us.  We love you.

Even the dice were sparkly...
Merry Christmas
